The Unwanted Undead Adventurer’s Lessons on Humanity

At a glance, this show has nothing to separate it from the masses of other generic fantasy other than the protagonist. But, even there, who am I kidding? We’ve already had every type of storyteller under the sun, from spiders, to pigs, and even to vending machines. In light of those examples, an undead main character is nothing special, right? You wouldn’t be wrong to assume that, because from start to finish, that’s who this show is all about. But you know what? That’s fine. That’s more than fine. Rentt Faina is a story all on his own.

Winter 2024 Taste Test: The Unwanted Undead Adventurer

I didn’t actually expect to write about The Unwanted Undead Adventurer, because at a glance it looks like something I’d toss straight into the bin after only a few minutes into the first episode. The promotional art had me thinking we’d get nothing but horrid CG monsters, fight scenes and big boobs. Admittedly, there is a bit of all of that, but not in the way that you’d think. I found myself actually invested in the main character and his unfortunate transformation, so now here we are, hanging out with the undead and not feeling too bad about ourselves throughout the process.
