Fall 2017 Season Wrap: Yuki Yuna is a Hero – Washio Sumi Chapter

Yuki Yuna is a Hero originally aired back in the fall of 2014 for a single season, entering the stage that is the dark magical girl genre prepared by earlier anime like Puella Magi Madoka Magica. If you have not seen the first Yuki Yuna series, then I suggest you stop reading now and go back and watch it before proceeding with Washio Sumi Chapter. That, or start with Washio Sumi, go back to Yuki Yuna, then proceed with the currently airing Hero Chapter for a chronological viewing. Here, I will share my thoughts on Washio Sumi’s backstory, which unfolded over half the current season with six episodes.

Fall 2017 Set Menu

Now that everything I’m interested in has finally aired, I can finally discuss all of the shows I’ll be watching this autumn. I decided to go back to an older style of organizing these season previews by arranging them by priority. Don’t be too thrown off by the lower shelving, though, since those shows still comprise of stories I find intriguing, even if I’m uncertain about keeping them on my watch list. Let me know if this presentation doesn’t work for you, or if you like it.

This season includes plenty of sequels, from guaranteed classics like March Comes in like a Lion to guilty pleasures like Food Wars! There are also a surprising number of big idol anime sequels. If sequels aren’t your thing, then rest assured that this fall brings with it a handful of promising new works whose stories not only sound unlike anything I’ve seen before, but whose characters and backgrounds also look phenomenal on screen.

Happy New Year! I had an awesome little intro written out for this, but being as WordPress screwed me over in my attempt to publish and erased everything from my most recent revision, we’re going to be short and sweet and jump straight into my thoughts into the fast fall season.
