Spring 2012 Season Wrap

GIVE ME MOAR FISHING!

I was going to hold out on this season review until Saki Achiga-hen was done airing, but, being as I don’t know whether or not the additional three episodes will come out soon or some months later, I decided to just go ahead and slap down my spring thoughts now before sharing my summer choices with you all.

I feel like I watched so much more this season than before, but looking back, I actually am under the previous winter by about four shows.  Still, twelve is probably way too much all at one time! Anime covered include: Acchi Kocchi, Fate/Zero, Hiiro no Kakera, Jormungand, Mouretsu Pirates, Natsuiro Kiseki, Sakamichi no Apollon, Saki: Achiga-hen, Sankarea, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, Tsuritama, and Zetman.

Sakuma Drops and Fireflies: Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Remembering Grave of the Fireflies

Webs of Feminine Seduction in Hyouka and Amnesia

Everything about her ensnares the senses–the silky strands that strangle the heart, those eyes which see into the depths of the soul, her overwhelming sugary scent, a voice dripping with promised wantonness, and her ravenous appetite for sweat and flesh.  She oozes sexuality, and begs satiation from any one willing.  She is the jorougumo, the spider woman, and she has skittered underneath the doorways of currently airing Hyouka and Tasogare Otome x Amnesia.

Initial Impressions: Sankarea, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, Jormungand

Sankarea
Undecided

Like with Shirokuma CafeSankarea wasn’t even close to being on my radar after my season preview.  I’m just not feeling the whole anime zombie craze.  I was good with Highschool of the Dead‘s rampant sexuality and gore, but dropped Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? after just one episode.  Sankarea looks to be riding on their coattails with its generic pretty girl and cat-haired male lead.  And yet, I read a few reviews, notably from The Cart Driver and Guardian Enzo, that tempted me to ignore the warning bells going off in my head.
