Fire Force made it to my 12 Days of Anime for a number of reasons, and not all positive. While it certainly presents itself well on a visual front, other areas like timing and characters are memorable for more distasteful aspects. Regardless, I do consider the show among some of the most artistic presentations of the year with its cinematography and use of sound effects.

There are music shows, there are romance shows, and then there are shows like given that transcend the borders of each to create a truly compelling story that doesn’t quite fulfill the cravings of either genre. Just from that statement alone you might think I didn’t enjoy given, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I loved given. I just wish we had more from a story that felt like it was just beginning to find its footing.
The first of my summer shows to wrap up the season is ASTRA LOST IN SPACE, and it’s with a bit of a sad tone that I bid it farewell. This was, without a doubt, one of my favorite shows these past few months with its focus on exploration, mystery, and a healthy balance of comedy and suspense. I could have gone on for several more weeks of ASTRA’s journey through space. Instead, the story chose to follow a tight schedule to ensure closure after twelve episodes.
