Summer 2017 Set Menu

Summer has arrived in full force, slamming us not only with heat and humidity, but also with an endless supply of shows, many average and a couple extraordinary. Made in Abyss and Princess Principal top the lot, but shows like Nana Maru San Batsu and New Game!! follow closely in ranking. We are still at the start of the season, though, so my opinions are subject to change.

I ended up with far too many, as usual. I’m at 29 shows this summer, including hold overs from the spring, so hopefully I’ll have plenty of material for topics of interest and maybe even get back to the kitchen! If there’s anything in particular you’re interested in seeing me blog about, please let me know.

Spring Season 2015 Wrap

This roller coaster of a spring season has finally drawn to an end, with a few stragglers an episode or a few behind. Quite a few turned into gems that’ll remain favorites for a long time, while others barely clung to my weekly interests. I was sad to say farewell to a couple, notably Hibike! Euphonium, Sidonia, and KinMosa, but the seasons refuse to stay longer than necessary, and I can only hope we’ll see them again soon.

*Please note that there will be obvious spoilers in my final thoughts. The series are discussed as they were finished, and in no order of preference.

  • Owari no Seraph
  • Hello! Kiniro Mosaic
  • Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku
  • Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken 2 Sure-me

Spring 2015 Set Menu

We’re into the third and fourth weeks of the spring season, and I’ve finally decided upon my line-up. They’re not in any real order, other than viewing order, and span a variety of genres. Many of them are sequels, the majority of which retain a very similar feel to their prequels. I’m also noticing more and more CG these days, sometimes tastefully inserted during actions scenes where characters are smaller and less unnatural-looking, and at other times overwhelming (see my dropped list). Anyways, have a look-see and let me know what you think and what shows you’re watching that I’ve skipped this time around!

  • Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works (TV) 2nd Season
  • Shokugeki no Souma
  • Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken S2
  • Hibike! Euphonium
  • Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid
  • Daiya no Ace 2
  • Baby Steps 2nd Season
  • Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
  • Hello! Kin-iro Mosaic
  • Owari no Seraph
  • Arslan Senki
  • Kyoukai no Rinne
  • Ore Monogatari!!
  • Gunslinger Stratos
  • Kekkai Sensen
  • Koukaku Kidoutai: Arise – Alternative Architecture
  • Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu
  • Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku

  • Houkago no Pleiades

Fall 2014 Season Wrap

HAPPY NEW YEAR☆ | gummy bear [pixiv] http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=47989204
Happy New Year! I had an awesome little intro written out for this, but being as WordPress screwed me over in my attempt to publish and erased everything from my most recent revision, we’re going to be short and sweet and jump straight into my thoughts into the fast fall season. Hang on for the good, the bad, and the downright ugly!

Fall 2014 Set Menu

Kyahhh! Oh, autumn, why most you torment me so with your grabbing titles and adorable characters? I can’t resist, and have once again started too many shows than I can probably sustain for the rest of the season. Carry on, my friends, and feel free to tell me where you think I’ll drop or whether I should actually add to my course.

(20)12 Moments of Anime

Happy Holidays! I figured I’d jump into the 12 Days of Anime project with my own round-up post of my 12 memorable moments for the year (kudos to Yumeka for the idea).  Anime conventions, aniblog tourneys, favorite anime of the year–it’s all there reminding me why I watch anime and continue to blog.  Thank you for staying with me through 2012, and enjoy reading!

Spring 2012 Season Wrap

GIVE ME MOAR FISHING!

I was going to hold out on this season review until Saki Achiga-hen was done airing, but, being as I don’t know whether or not the additional three episodes will come out soon or some months later, I decided to just go ahead and slap down my spring thoughts now before sharing my summer choices with you all.

I feel like I watched so much more this season than before, but looking back, I actually am under the previous winter by about four shows.  Still, twelve is probably way too much all at one time! Anime covered include: Acchi Kocchi, Fate/Zero, Hiiro no Kakera, Jormungand, Mouretsu Pirates, Natsuiro Kiseki, Sakamichi no Apollon, Saki: Achiga-hen, Sankarea, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, Tsuritama, and Zetman.

Initial Impressions: Shirokuma Cafe, Fate/Zero 2, Saki: Achiga-hen

Shirokuma Cafe
Watching

Thanks to the kind prodding of bloggers Riyoga and Foxy Lady Ayame, I picked up this show that I had previously dismissed.  Shirokuma Cafe is an odd cross between slapstick humor and clever commentary.  The main laughs stem from the oddity of seeing these exotic animals, including a polar bear, empire penguin, panda, sloth, and several others, acting like humans amongst humans.  I’m not sure how long the novelty will remain entertaining through out the rest of the show, but I’m willing to give it a chance after the success of this first episode.

Fall 2011 Season Wrap (complete with balloons and fireworks!)

Since I originally planned on having this out earlier, I thought I’d have a separate, very short post wishing everyone a Happy New Year.  Buuuuuut, thanks to my recent infatuation with Korean dramas, finishing up the fall anime became less of a priority.  Although it took a bit longer than anticipated, here are my quick final impressions of the fall season.  Happy 2012, everyone!

あけましておめでとう!
